Today I have an exciting blog post for you because it's featuring my absolute favorite store Target, that many of you know I have a slight addiction to. But it gets even better… not only is Target coming out with a new limited edition line, it is also for a great cause and just in time for this Holiday Season. After all, it is the season of giving back and why not feel great about your purchases, whether for yourself or as Christmas gifts, by purchasing from #TOMSforTarget and giving back to those less fortunate than us.
Here is a little more information about Target & #TOMSforTarget collaboration:
Target is partnering with TOMS, one of the top socially conscious brands, by launching a limited time offer gift collection available in stores on November 16th, 2014. Like TOMS “one-for-one” model, with each gift purchased by Target shoppers, a gift will be made to a person in need.
Donations will include one of the following: one blanket via American Red Cross, one week of meals via Feeding America, or one pair of shoes via TOMS. Feel the love of giving back this season. One-for-One. For All.
After looking through all of the items from the collection, I've chosen some of my very favorites to share with all of you. Be sure to check out the collection HERE, so you can get a sneak peek of what to look for in your local Target or if you can't wait, pick up online. Today was a very exciting day for me. I had a package delivered to my door. I opened it and to my delight it was the You Tube Silver Play Button. I was so excited!!! It will be 5 years that I have been making You Tube videos this November. I never thought all those years ago, that I would be here writing this blog with this plaque from You Tube. I am so honored. The opportunities that I have been given all from me putting up my first Playboy Makeup Tutorial in 2009, have been such a blessing and I am so thankful to all of you, who have made this possible. Not only am I able to do something that I love everyday, I'm able to stay at home with my babies and watch them grow. It's a dream come true for me. I truly appreciate each and everyone of you who have supported me throughout these years. For everyone who has clicked that SUBSCRIBE button (and if you haven't, you are more than welcome to haha)... this is all because of you! THANK YOU! I feel so special and lucky and honored that I have over 160,000 people that have taken time out of their busy lives to watch me blab :)
It's amazing how one little moment in your life, can change your future drastically. Something I would have never thought of doing myself has now turned into something that is a huge part of my life. It all started when I was at work at the hair salon and my client asked what my hobby was. I had no reply. I stood there. Finally I answered something along the lines of, "I go to work and go home and hang out with my husband." While hanging out with your husband is awesome, I felt like a loser because I didn't have an actual hobby. Nothing that I was super passionate about, or that I was so excited to do when I had free time.
I told Jay when I got home about the question that made me stand there with nothing to say. He told me I should make You Tube videos like the girl Kandee Johnson, who I used to watch. I laughed. There was no way I would make You Tube videos. I had crooked teeth, I didn't want people making fun of me even more than I had my whole school life. It took me months of Jay persuading me to just put one video up. I was so nervous. Who would want to watch me? Jay told me to just film it and put it up and then if I didn't like it, I could always delete it.
I remember sitting there on my Mac Book with the little camera built in to the laptop sitting on the floor in my living room. I figured I would at least try, so I filmed a Playboy makeup tutorial. I was obsessed with Pamela Anderson's makeup back then and Girls Next Door was my favorite show. It took 3 separate videos for me to upload it because back then if you weren't a partner you couldn't have a video longer than 10 minutes. Jay did all of the uploading for me, I had no clue what I was doing. He taught me to use the camera, edit, export etc. I was clueless. I didn't even know how to connect to the internet haha! I remember checking back and seeing 1 view, then 2 views, then 3, 4, 5. I was so excited that people were watching me. I didn't realize they were my own views haha!! But eventually I got 20, then 50 and then 100 and it kept growing and I couldn't believe that people were watching my video and telling me that they likes it. It was really cool. Fast forward years later and I still love to hear all of your sweet comments. It makes what I do rewarding. To know that I help you feel better about yourself, or made you smile, cheered you up in a bad time or just taught you something about makeup.... that is what makes this so amazing.
So again, THANK YOU! Thank you for watching, commenting, subscribing, liking, sharing.... supporting me in all that I do ;) I love you all! You have made my life, something I could have never dreamed of :) I am so blessed and lucky to have such a happy life ;)
We all have our dark moments in life but just remember, life gives to you what you put in. If you put in negative thoughts, negativity will be given right back to you. If you focus on what you want to be and where you want your life to be and happiness and positivity, that's what you will get. It might be tiny little steps or glimpses of happiness but hey, we all have to start somewhere right?
Don't forget...... Hard work pays off ;)
Ok, that's my blabbing for the night. Thank you again!
I posted a picture of my outfit today on Instagram and a few of you asked where specific things were from so I thought I would just plonk it all down on a blog post :) We had people working on our roof today, so we figured since it would be a whole lot of banging and loud noise, we would run errands. Here's what I wore.
I got an email today from Sephora showcasing their latest and greatest indulgences for the holiday season. I figured I'd share them with you because..... well because I know you'll probably feel the same way I do about them :)
First thing I thought was YES!!! I want it.... you know I love Urban Decay shadows. They are actually my favorite eyeshadows out there, so I was really excited when I saw this. And then I saw the price.... WAH WAH WAH!!! Darn. $600 is a crazy amount to spend on an eyeshadow set and that is why I called this post keep on dreaming. As much as I would love to have all 68 of those delightful bad boys.... it's just way out of the question for me. But it does look rather fabulous and it would be pretty cool to have every shade they make! I'll keep dreaming on that one :)
Next thing that caught my attention was this little beauty.
I love Stila. They are pigmented and the quality is fab. Once again this set is definitely on the high side of the budget but not quite as ridiculous as the Urban Decay. This set contains 15 deluxe lip glazes, 8 smudge stick waterproof eye liners, 3 brushes, 3 smudge crayons 12 eyeshadows and 4 blushes. Looks pretty delightful and you get a lot of different makeup so that's nice. Still pretty pricey though.
The price is still pretty high but much easier to swallow than the former two I talked about. I think this is something that is a splurge but it's not going to make you puke thinking about as you walk out with the receipt in your hand or even worse.... your husband kill you when he finds out ;) (And no Jay has never wanted to kill me after I've bought makeup haha... had to throw that out there!)
As a child I loved advent calendars. We would get the Cadbury ones filled with yummy little santa and reindeer shaped chocolates. Every morning we would rush downstairs to open the day's little window to see what shape chocolate it was. There's just something so fun about an advent calendar, so I think it's really cool that they have made one for the adult beauty lover. A little small makeup or skin care treat for 24 days of December! What a way to make Mom smile eh?? It has blushes, mascara, skin care, lip gloss... all sorts of little goodies in it to make that girly girl excited to get up and open that little window for the day :) (Hey who knows, it might even make your teenage daughter get up for school early????)
Could you see yourself buying any of these for yourself or as a special gift?
Let me know your thoughts!!
Thanks so much for reading and Happy Almost Halloween! Where did this year go??
This weekend we went to the Pumpkin Patch to get our pumpkins for Halloween and to go and enjoy the festivities at our local corn maize ;) If you haven't already watched the vlog then head on over and watch!!
Here's a few extra pictures that I wanted to share with you :)
I forgot to bring my mascara in the car (I did my makeup in the car) but here's the makeup I wore. Makeup Geeks Shimma Shimma, Brown Sugar & Frappe on the eyes and Urban Decay's Naked Lip Pencil with Pixi Jumpo Lip Pencil in Nearly Naked over.
We were all so excited when we saw the farm animals. We love our animals :) They had piggies, sheep, goats, cows and mini horses and they were all so cute and very friendly. Phoenix and Lily loved them all. Lily loved the pigs the most and Phoenix liked the sheep.
This was really cute with little cow trivia. Did you know that it takes 350 squirts to make a gallon of milk? I'm glad I'm not a cow!
This was our little friend that Phoenix decided to name Phoenix ;)
The cow was not too happy about us taking pictures of him while he was trying to have a peaceful lunch.
Lily and Daddy vlogging me while I took pictures of them :) Double vloggers!
It was such a beautiful day. The perfect weather and it was so pretty.
Phoenix loved riding in the wagon and most of all playing with the door lock :)
Lily was having fun looking at all the pumpkins although every time I tried to get a picture, she looks grumpy :)
Such a beautiful pumpkin patch. I just love the way corn looks against the blue sky. So pretty.
Our pumpkin patch is cool because they have white, yellow, orange and red pumpkins. I got a yellow one and the kids and Daddy got orange.
The had little cow rides.....
We decided to go on the big tractor ride so that we could all go together.
How do you like Phoenix's smile??? LOL
The corn pit was the kids favorite. They spent so long in there dumping the corn in and out of the trucks. Lily had corn all over her tights but she did not mind one bit.
This was a beautiful display they had at the area to purchase the pumpkins. Strange looking gourds.
There's me pulling Phoenix while vlogging Daddy :)
How beautiful is this picture that Jay took?
We had so much fun at our pumpkin patch. Not only does it support our local farmers, it's so much more fun than just picking one out at the store. I highly suggest you go to your local pumpkin patch if you have young children.... or even if you don't! Jay and I had just as much fun as the kids... if not more haha!
