Halloween Makeup | "Inside Out" Sadness, Joy & Disgust

This post is sponsored by Target.

Today, I'm showing you three different looks for Halloween from our favorite Disney movie, "Inside Out" just in time for that spooky (or not so spooky) night. I chose to do the three girls in the movie: Sadness, Joy, and Disgust. Makeup is supposed to be fun, and sometimes we get so caught up staying inside the lines and sticking with neutrals that we forget to go bold, play with bright colors, and sometimes get a little wild with it.

Halloween is the perfect time to pull out those bright shades and draw on some crazy eyebrows or lips that you feel like normally you can't pull off. I hope you enjoy the lips I came up with. I had so much fun doing them. I tried to pick a lot of budget-friendly options (with the exception of a few) that you can find at your local Target, so these looks won't break the bank. Target has awesome brands like NYX that are great for creating these fun, colorful, bold looks.
First, there's Sadness.

Here's my inspiration picture.

Sadness is super fun because the eyebrows are way outside of the normal shape of mine. I think this is the key feature in the look. You want to make them much higher in the inner part and then slope down as if you are very sad. I contoured with a dark blue, added a tiny bit of pink to the cheek, and made sure to keep the shape of the eyes very rounded with the shadow. No cat eye or lifting allowed on this look. Pick a few different shades of blue to give dimension between the lid and crease. Finish off with a blue lip and you, my friend, are Sadness. I decided to create this look without the blue skin for those of you who don't feel like being all blue. But you always have the full blue face option if you like.

Here's what I used:

NYX Shine Killer - Use this as the base for your foundation. It controls shine and keeps you matte.
Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Foundation - Apply this to your skin to make everything even.
Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Concealer - Conceal dark circles and brighten up the under eye.
NYX HD Studio Finishing Powder - Apply this to the under eye, chin, forehead, and smile lines to fill in lines and pores and set concealer.
Maybelline Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil Lustrous Sapphire (not pictured) - Use this to fill in your eyebrows like Sadness's.
Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Shadow Icy Mint - Apply this to the lid as your base.
Sigma Eye Liner Pencil (My Cloud) - I used this for my waterline to help pop my eyes and make them look larger.
Physicians Formula Blue Eye Candy - I took the darker cool shades in this palette and contoured with this around my temples, nose, and cheeks. I also used the same shade in my crease.
Physicians Formula Pop Blue Eyes - Apply the lightest shade with a blending brush as your highlight to your cheekbones and brow bone. Also apply to the eyelid.
Colour Pop Beauty Call - Apply this to the entire lid and lower lash line.
Colour Pop Taco - Apply this to the crease with a lending brush.
Colour Pop Hope - Apply this to the tops of your cheeks for a highlight. It gives a nice purple glow.
Elf Eyeshadow Pixie - Use this as your blush to give a subtle pink glow to the apples.
Physicians Formula Custom Eye Enhancing Kajal Eyeliner Blue Eyes - I took on my upper lash line and lower lash line. Remember to keep it following the shape of your eye. Do not flick up or out. Keep it round. Blend out with a brush to soften the edges.
Sigma Embellish Lash Big Time - This purple mascara will softly pop your lashes without giving too much drama to them. Plus, it matches her glasses.
Colour Pop Ultra Matte Lip Mr. Blonde - Apply a thin layer of this to lips. Top with the eye shadow used on the cheeks and then softly blend out the outer corners of lips with the kajal pencil to give some dimension.

Next, we have Joy.
Inspiration picture of Joy.

For Joy, you want to create a glowy base - bright, glowy skin with lots of highlight. The brows should be a light blue with sparkles (she is super joyful and sparkly, after all),  and a soft pink lip. Keep the liner flicked up to make the eyes appear bright, awake, and lifted. We want to look as happy as possible. By applying white liner to the waterline, it gives that doll-like, big-eyed effect. Joy is more of a natural skin tone in the movie, so I kept to my normal foundation colors. You can go yellow if you want but I think keeping your natural skin tone, pops the yellow on the dress and eyes more. I picked up the blue wig from the Spirit Halloween store to add that extra bit of Joy to the look.

Here's what I used:
Boots Botanics All Bright Radiance Balm - This is a gorgeous brightening primer that I applied all over my face before the foundation. This is going to make your skin glowy even through your foundation.
Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation - Apply to the face to even out skin tone.
Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Concealer - Use under the eyes to really brighten and lift.
Nars Light Reflecting Powder - I used this because it has light-reflecting properties. Even though it sets and keeps you matte, it has a nice brightening effect to the under eye.
Max Factor Loose Powder - Apply a light layer all over the face to set the foundation.
Boots Botanics Contouring Kit - Use the deep shade to contour your cheeks, temples, nose, and jawline.
NYX Baked Blush - Apply Ladylike first to the apples of the cheeks, and then apply Full On Femme over the top for an extra pink glow.
Colour Pop Stole the Show - Apply this with your finger to the high points of your cheeks, the end and bridge of the nose, cupid's bow, brow bone, and inner corner of the eye.
Elf Eyelid Primer - This is an awesome, affordable eye primer. I apply it with my finger all over the lid and crease to help keep everything in place all day long.
NYC Color Correcting Concealer - Take the yellow shade and pat onto the eyelid to create a yellow base for the shadow.
NYX 936 Shimmer - Create a high arched brow with this sparkly blue pencil. Round the inner corners and create a thinner end. Also apply this to the lower lash line.
NYX STFU (not pictured): - Use this bright yellow shadow to pack on color to the lid and softly blend out into the crease. Also apply this to lower lash line with a blending brush.
NYX Trio Shadow TS24 Shimmer - Apply this to the brow bone and inner corner.
Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Palette Emerald Gold - Take the yellow color and apply to the lid.
Mehron Precious Gem Powder Citrine - With your finger, pack this onto the lid to add extra sparkle. Also apply this with a soft, fluffy brush as your highlight on your cheeks. It adds that extra- soft yellow sparkle that makes the skin look extra bright and glowy, like Joy.
Maybelline Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Liner Lustrous Sapphire - Apply it to the bottom of the brows for extra definition. Blend it out with lighter blue pencil from NYX. Apply to the outer half of the lower lash line and blend.
NYX Studio Liquid Liner SLL101 Extreme Blue - Apply this to the upper lash liner to create a soft wing to lift the eyes.
NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil 604 Milk - Apply to the waterline to pop your eyes and make them appear larger and more doll-like.
NYX Color Mascara CM02 Blue - Apply two coats of blue mascara to the eyelashes and one coat to the lower lashes all the way from the outer to inner corner.
Elf Matte Lip Color Natural - Apply all over your lips.
NYX 856 Sand Pink - Add a little bit of this over the elf lip color to add a bit more pink.

And last but not least, there is Disgust.

For Disgust, I decided to go all out and paint my face green. The paint I used was a huge mistake. I got it at the Spirit store and it's so patchy and impossible to work with, so my uh-oh is your lesson learned.  Do not buy that stuff! It's so awful! It just looks terrible and patchy and uneven. So I recommend ordering from a professional makeup store online. Amazon has tons. You basically want green skin, bright pink lips, pink sparkly eye shadow, green brows, and some fun green eyelashes. I found mine at the Spirit store. They were full rainbow lashes, and so I cut the green part out and used that. A green dress and pink scarf, and you are ready to protect the world from all the grossness.

Inspiration picture.

Do you see what I mean about the patchiness? It's awful! I worked on my face for a solid half hour and just couldn't get it to blend nicely. Not good.

Here's what I used:

NYX Studio Perfect Photo Loving Primer Anti Redness - Apply to your entire face to cancel out redness and give a nice smooth finish to your skin. This stuff is super silky.

Spirit Green Grease Makeup (DO NOT BUY) - First, I tried applying with a brush. That wasn't good, then I used my fingers. That worked a little better, but in general it's just awful. Apply to the face, neck, chest, and arms.

Spirit White Grease Makeup - At first, I used this in place of a concealer to highlight under my eyes, my forehead and chin, and down my nose. It ended up making the green, teal.

Anastasia Contour Cream Kit: Take the yellow color and apply it everywhere you applied the white to highlight. The yellow evens out the green and makes it much more yellow-green than the former teal color. Plus, it's way creamier and added more coverage. (Thank you, Anastasia.)

NYX Primal Colors PC08 Hot Green mixed with NYX STFU: Take a fluffy brush and blend these two colors together and use to set the face. I just went back and forth between the two colors to create the perfect green. I also took the yellow color straight as my under eye, chin, forehead, and nose powder.

NYX ES30A Hunter Green: Use this to contour your cheeks, nose, temples, and under the lip. Take a small brush and shape your nose by applying the powder across the tip of your nose to make it appear more upturned, like Disgust's. Then blend out with the Primal Colors green.
NYX Baked Blush Pink Fetish: With a stippling brush bounce on the apples of your cheeks to give a nice pink glow.

NYX Trio Eyeshadow TS24 Shimmer: Apply to your brow bone and the tops of your cheeks to highlight. Also apply a good amount of this to the tip of the nose, cupid's bow, and bridge of the nose to create Disgust's nose.

NYX 939 Green Shimmer: Apply this to your eyebrows in your normal shape. Disgust's eyebrows were a really nice shape, so I feel like you can do the normal shape you would wear but just make them green and sparkly. :) Also apply this to the lower lash line and extend out and up a little bit in the outer corner.

NYX Primal Colors Hot Fuchsia: Pack this onto the lid with a brush, and then softly blend out into the crease.

Urban Decay Glitter Rock: With your finger, apply this to the lid over the pink. This adds a nice pink sparkle.

Urban Decay Freak 24/7 Glide On Pencil: Apply to the waterline.

Urban Decay Mars 24/7 Glide On Pencil: Apply to the bottom of the brow for definition, then blend out with the NYX green pencil.

NYX Matte Liquid Liner Black: Apply a thin line to the lash liner, flicking out at the end and creating a wing to lift up the eye.

Loreal Telescopic Carbon Black: Apply two coats to the upper lashes.

iEnvy Strip Eyelash Adhesive Jet Black: Apply the spirit green lashes to the outer edge of the lash line.

NYX 836 Bloom: Apply all over the lips. For some reason, this came off pinker on camera than it did in real life. It's more of a purple-pink in real life.

Cover Girl Lip Lava Look Its Lava: Apply to the lips over the liner. It adds a nice shimmer to the lips.

There you go, lovelies. I hope you like these looks I came up with. It's so much fun to play with different colors and come up with these for you.

Easy Paleo Cookies

Hi Guys!

I saw this recipe and had to share it with you. Sometimes you get a craving for a home baked chocolate chip cookie but normal recipes are super fattening and time consuming. When I saw Raye's video for her Paleo Cookies, I had to share. This is so easy, quick and looks delicious. Plus it's ingredients that most of us have in our pantry.

So watch this video and enjoy! I can't wait to try these out. I'm on a cooking/baking thing right now and I'm loving it. I currently have Bacon Wrapped Chicken with Apples in the crock pot that I found on Pinterest. It smells amazing! Wish me luck ;)

Be sure to share any recipes you are loving with me in the comments below. I'd love to try them!!
